my mother was going to visit from az to il and travel by plane. the higher cost of fuel increased the cost of her ticket. she couldnt afford the ticket so cancelled her trip.the airliner lost her business and made no profit. multiply that enough times and theres a hefty loss to the company, business suffers.if we travel by car to her, the only value for us to drive to her instead is we'll have our own car to mosey around town. shes a spunky 78 years old and prefers to travel here than us to travel there. i'm pretty sure the gas spent to get there and back would about equal a ticket.How does the rising cost of gas /oil versus dependency on those products have the potential to affect business
the trucking industry which we depend on for food and many other products that we cant do without is dependent on oil for fuel.the same for shipping and trains. the more oil costs and the more expensive fuel gets the products we use everyday will cost us more.i dont know about everyone else but im not giving up my toliet paper for a sears catalog. but sometime in the near future we will have to wean ourselves off fossil fuel.i know methane is a great substitute for gas but it takes millions of dollars to build the equipment for its production.
Think about this: I want to order a pizza and deliver it to my house. I plan on spending $15 total. The pizza place I order from says ';ok, we can charge you 15 total, but because gas is $3/gallon, I have to issue you a 3 dollar delivery charge instead of 1.





So I spend more money on pizza than I want.
