Flaxseed Oil = Peanut Oil/Products?

Hi, I'm deathly allergic to Peanuts (oil, butter, etc.) the other day I began taking tablespoons of FlaxSeed Oil. I was told that since I can't eat nuts, I should try the flax seed oil to get similar types of fatty acids. On my second day of taking it, I started to have flu like symptoms. The next day I didn't take the oil -- I still feel sick, but not as much. Could I be allergic to it?

You could be allergic to it. It depends on if you took it with food or on an empty stomach.Flaxseed Oil = Peanut Oil/Products?
Actually, seeds are making a big name for themselves in the allergy world. Sesame is about to officially become the new addition to the top 8, making it the top 9.

Aside from that huge news, anything with protein in it, can be an allergen. And anyone with one allergy often has others.

Yes, you can be allergic to flax. I would not want to disregard such a healthy food without knowing for sure though. I t might be worth a quick scratch test at the allergists. But I wouldn't recommend trying it again until then.
May process the flax at the same place as peanut butter. Hope not. A visit to a specialist can take much of the guess work out of things. They may load your arm up with a bunch of test spots and work out what you really are allergic to. For some it is something that can save their life.
people who are allergic to nuts are sometimes allergic to seeds as well, read the ingredients listings to see if anything has been added to the flax.

If it still persists, see your doctor!
